Jeff Koons’ playful mindset takes over the Whitney Museum until October 19th. The broad retrospective offers the opportunity to look anew at the work of the celebrity artist.
In the Duchampian spirit, Jeff Koons has pioneered new approaches to the ready-made and experimented with different materials from porcelain to steel in order to achieve its creative mission.
Organised chronologically, the show presents Koons’ multifaceted work from 1978 to 2014. Surrounded by his most famous pieces such as « Tulips » and « Balloon Dog », the centerpiece “Play-Doh” consists in a massive pile of multicoloured modelling clay that the perfectionist artist has been working on for more than two decades.
