The W hotel chain has chosen Verbier in the Swiss Alps to open its first alpine retreat. Located a few steps away from the slopes, W Verbier shows a chalet like exterior that perfectly blends in with the alpine surroundings, while inside the lively and festive W spirit takes over. Even in the Alps, design, fashion and music remain the three W favourites.
Inspired by the ski trails in the snow, Dutch design firm Concrete successfully brought together the urban cool attitude with the Swiss alpine style. Carefully chosen details and artworks are spread across the resort. Recalling the ski tracks, the work of the tape artist, Buff Diss, adds a graphic touch to the walls and emphasized the laid back atmosphere of the five star hotel. On top, seven Swiss tales such as Heidi and Snow Queen have been reinterpretated by Dutch photographer, Marcel Van Der Vlugt, for W Verbier. Check out the making of here.
I was happily surprised to discover a new ambiance for each moment of the day, from the dynamic café to get ready to hit the slopes or the bright conference room, to the warm and cosy living room for après-ski and trendy night club for celebration time. The restaurant and tapas bar also enrich it with a gourmet experience. And after a day on the slopes or a long night out, the peaceful spa is definitely the best place to refuel energy. For sure, I won’t miss the next yoga weekend planned for this summer.
