ECHO, Premiere Exhibition

In early February, the Swedish capital celebrated its vibrant design scene. Across the city, designers, studios and brands came together to present a rich panorama of exhibitions and creative initiatives. For its first edition, ECHO gathered a carefully curated selection of established brands and emerging talents.

As a new platform dedicated to Swedish design, ECHO inaugurated its premiere exhibition in a former cannon workshop on the island of Skeppsholmen, with beautiful views on the waterfront and Stockholm city centre. In this raw industrial space bathed in natural light, furniture, textiles, rugs, porcelain, lightning and art came together in a subtle dialogue created by Lotta Agaton Interiors.

Offering a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle, a space for inspiration and reflection, the exhibition featured interior scenes in a set design that draws its colour palette from nature, with pine, moss, grass, and reed as recurring elements throughout the environment.

Among the exhibitors, Ogeborg hand-tufted rugs harmoniously complemented the furniture pieces by DUX and BEMZ. JOY Objects brightened up the space with a new, pink interpretation of the Chair ONE silhouette, while the minimalist Tilt Stool by Staffan Holm Studio added movement. Solid Space Studio unveiled an outdoor version of its airy, asymmetric Sun Ray Chair. Bang & Olufsen set the tone with the special editions of its iconic speakers, and the sculptures by artist duo Ameln Merner brought a balanced touch.

At its core, JOY is about creating a sense of community around an open and vibrant design scene. ECHO felt like a natural context for us – a place where ideas, people, and expressions can meet. As a small, niche brand, a collective format like this allows us to reach new audiences and create new conversations,” says Fredrik Paulsen, founder and chief designer of JOY Objects.

ECHO will present its next exhibition in Copenhagen in June, during 3daysofdesign.
